Recently I got a very interesting commission: a dark, primary forest with a touch of HOPE. So here are various stages of the work:

Ostatnio otrzymałam bardzo ciekawe zlecenie: ciemny,
pierwotny las z odrobiną uczucia nadziei. A oto poszczególne etapy pracy:

1. Setting
a composition. It looks quite chaotic now but there is a kind of "path"
pointed by a broken branch and accented by a rock.
1. Ustawianie kompozycji. Wygląda to dość chaotycznie, ale
jest tutaj swoista ścieżka wskazana przez złamaną gałąź i zaakcentowana
kamieniem.
2. Splashes
of masking fluid (I use a tooth brush for that) and a fast first layer of paint on the
background. Background will be changed a lot in the next stages but for now
it'll help me to extract individual trees.
2. Rozpryski fluidu maskującego przy użyciu szczoteczki do
zębów oraz szybka, pierwsza warstwa akwareli na tle. Wprawdzie samo tło
znacznie się zmieni w następnych etapach, ale na razie pomoże mi wyodrębnić poszczególne
drzewa.
3. Setting
of colors. Background gets darker, warm colors on the foreground gets colder on
the more distant trees. I can also finally remove masking fluid.
3. Ustawianie kolorystyki. Tło staje się ciemniejsze, ciepłe
kolory na pierwszym planie "ochładzają się" w miarę oddalania się
drzew od obserwatora. Wreszcie mogę też pozbyć się fluidu maskującego.
4. Almost
finished! Textures, details, emphasizing of colors. At this stage I use a
very thin brush.
4. Prawie skończone! Tekstury, detale, podkreślanie kolorów.
Na tym etapie używam bardzo cienkiego pędzelka.
5. Now it's
time to emphasize contrasts. I use a pen for the darkest elements (and a
signature :) ) and a paper cutter for tiny highlights.
5. Teraz czas na podbicie kontrastów. Dla najciemniejszych
detali (oraz podpisu :) ) uzywam piórka, natomiast do drobnych rozświetleń
służy mi nożyk do papieru.
